Heather Nielsen is the Owner of By the Books Bookkeeping and Tax, LLC, a company she started in 2015. A business profitability and growth advisor, as well as a CPA, Heather enjoys assisting clients to reach their goals and full potential. Additionally, she is most passionate about helping business owners make better informed financial and organizational decisions that impact their bottom line.
Working with clients whose businesses are in the $250K – $2M range, Heather provides a variety of skills, including:

- Corporate and personal income tax planning and preparation
- Budgeting and forecasting

She has previous experience as a financial director, vice president, treasurer, and corporate and senior accountant. Heather earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Utah David Eccles School of Business. She is a member of the California CPA Society.
Heather dedicates her time to developing the next generation and creating opportunities for them to thrive and grow into the best version of themselves to spread their wings and take the world in new and exciting directions. For the last 20 years, she has managed and volunteered time for baseball and soccer teams, soccer leagues, presided over sports booster clubs, soccer tournaments, and church youth summer camps.
When she’s not working, she is pursuing her 1st degree Black Belt in Taekwondo; she loves how martial arts stretches her focus and commitment. She also enjoys hiking, camping, biking, reading, baking, and good music. When in need of a good laugh, you will find her in the greeting card aisle of any store laughing with one of her kids over a good-humored card or two.
